Dyed & Gone to Heaven promises to be a delicious adventure full of colour, surprises, magic and delight. Liz Constable will guide you through a fun filled week of creative paper dyeing, book making and book binding.
About this course:
Dyed and Gone to Heaven is all about play, experimentation and exploration. It is especially helpful for people who want to break out of a rut and reconnect with their creative spirit. During this week we’ll dye just about anything we can get our hands on, so that you leave with an extraordinary collection of papers to use in a variety of projects.
Some of your deliciously dyed papers will be used to create 6 simple but beautifully raw journals (to keep that loose rhythm in play) for you to take home. We will be binding the journals but again, we’ll be keeping it simple to stay loose.
We will also enjoy dyeing some fabric and to create a small set of prayer flags (or bunting or whatever you’d like to call them), so that you can enjoy using your new skills in creative ways.
Liz has taught this technique to beginners through to accomplished artists. As she will be in the class to help and guide, those who want help will be able to enjoy her attention and those who want to free wheel will be left to do so.
Materials List:
- Liz will be providing the dyes but if you wish to bring some to experiment with just make sure they are water based
- A variety of papers to use – all kinds are encouraged and Liz will have some for you as well – Atelier Clos Mirabel will provide A4 copy paper
- At least 4 brushes (the bigger the better to paint the dye onto your papers)
- Wear clothes you feel comfortable creating in
- Liz will provide metal bits for you to play with, but bring some if you can – pack them carefully so they don’t leave stains on your clothes.
