More about our Art Studio

Join basket weaving artist and instructor Annetta Kraayeveld in South West France for a week of playful experimentation with coloured paper, learning how to weave in an inventive way.

About this course:

This creative holiday incorporates traditional basketry techniques with a colourful non-traditional material – weaving small baskets and vessels with paper. Students of all skill levels are welcome to attend, though some basket weaving experience is encouraged.

The week will still start by painting paper and weaving 2 or 3 small sample baskets (with materials prepared by the instructor). The sample baskets allow students time to practice techniques in weaving with paper. When the painted paper has cured and been fully prepared, students will weave additional vessels; either designing their own pieces or weaving designs included in the student booklet. The course has been formatted so students can work at their own pace assisted by the instructor.

Materials included in fee:
Booklet with weaving instructions for several small projects and two laminated weaving boards
Packing Tool
20 micro clips
Needle
2 water colour sheets 22” x 30” and acrylic paints
Prepared materials for three small sampler baskets
Instructor will provide cutting tools (except scissors) for students to use during the workshop.
