About The Sewing Workshop
The Sewing Workshop started as a sewing school in San Francisco. Linda Lee purchased the school in 1991 and built The Sewing Workshop into the premiere garment sewing resource in the United States, offering sewing education, garment patterns, and a collection of fashion fabrics. Linda has written 14 books on home sewing, produced 11 Craftsy classes and has become a household name as a sewing educator. Her expansive influence in the sewing industry garnered her an induction to the American Sewing Guild’s Hall of Fame.

The Sewing Workshop has always had a team of talented sewists and designers who are dedicated to expanding the love and skills of sewing with their audience. Alex Woodbury, Betsy Blodgett, and Erin Snethen will be leading the La Fonda in France workshop, and are looking forward to sharing this magical experience with fellow sewists.

Alex Woodbury
Alex has a varying skill set with degrees in Family Counseling, and Business and Fashion Design. Concluding her studies at the London College of Fashion in 2020 with an M.A. in Fashion Entrepreneurship and Innovation, she is great at generating ideas, developing content, and has a passion for merging the worlds of creativity and philanthropy. She has written multiple articles for Threads Magazine and has led many sewing classes both online and in-person. She enjoys helping others build a handmade wardrobe they love.

Betsy Blodgett
Betsy credits her internship at Liberty of London for inspiring her career in the sewing industry. Just out of college, she opened bon bon atelier, a fabric and sewing store. There she honed her skills as a sewing teacher and realized her passion for creating creative experiences for sewists. Her work at The Sewing Workshop has furthered her understanding of both sewing techniques and educational skills. She also has written for Seamwork Magazine, hosted Hello Atelier, a creative podcast, and creates textile tour experiences with Hello Voyager. Oh, and she works with her sister making sheep footstools with Farmette Studio. Because, why not?

Erin Snethen
Erin is the secret ingredient behind The Sewing Workshop’s pattern line. Her background in fashion design from Kansas State University gives her a unique perspective on sewing, colour, and design that she brings to The Sewing Workshop. She has a wonderful eye for detail which is reflected not only in our designs, but also in our pattern instructions, where she focuses on setting sewists up for success with beautiful illustrations and clear instructions. Her deep understanding of pattern construction also makes her an incredible teacher, able to understand how to transform a flat pattern to a perfectly fitted garment.

Testimonials:

I attended a multi-day workshop with The Sewing Workshop at Mulberry Silks in Carrboro, NC. I liked how we started by showing garments from TSW and commenting on the fabrics and patterns. I especially liked having time to work while she was available for advice and suggestions. This workshop was productive — a great experience in learning new skills and refining old ones as I made a beautiful lined jacket — Ann M

I went to a Jacket workshop in Topeka. I had the best time ever! So much creativity to absorb! Wonderful, encouraging staff and other attendees that were so supportive and kind! I have made 8 different jackets since the workshop, some for me and some for my sister. I would go again in a minute if I could afford it. — Shary R
