Artist's Projects
Svetlana Lanse is a professional botanical artist and dedicated tutor with over 11 years of teaching experience. Now based in London, she exhibits her work and leads botanical art workshops worldwide.
Holding a Master’s degree in miniature painting, Svetlana refined her botanical art skills by closely studying and copying classical botanical illustrations — including the historical masterpieces of Pierre-Joseph Redouté and Maria Sibylla Merian — and by painting directly from live specimens in botanical gardens.
Svetlana is deeply passionate about art education. Her creative, highly visual teaching approach makes her lessons both engaging and accessible. She excels at breaking down the exacting rules and techniques of botanical watercolour into manageable steps, creating an encouraging environment where students can thrive. Many of her students have gone on to win awards at international exhibitions.
An active figure in the global botanical art community, Svetlana is a Fellow Member of the Society of Botanical Artists and currently creates work for the Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium Society. She frequently serves as a juror for renowned international art competitions, and her original pieces are proudly held in the prestigious Dr Shirley Sherwood Collection of Contemporary Botanical Art.
