Artist's Projects
Samantha Dion Baker is originally from Philadelphia, where she grew up in a family of artists. Throughout her childhood, she spent afternoons drawing in her grandmother’s sculpture studio and watching her mother create intricate illustrations at her drafting table. She attended The Cooper Union in New York City, where she explored everything from design to printmaking, eager to experiment before settling on a career in design. She then spent over twenty years working as a graphic designer in Toronto and New York City, with a strong focus in the art world. In her early forties, she began drawing again, and through a dedicated sketchbook practice, she transitioned from designer to artist. Now a full-time artist, teacher, and author, she finds inspiration in wandering city streets and traveling with her family, documenting everything she does, eats, and sees in her sketch journal.
She has written four books—Draw Your Day, Draw Your World, Draw Your Day For Kids!, and her latest, Draw Your Adventures, coming out on July 15th. Each book explores her drawing practice and encourages others to be mindful of the world around them, capturing their own experiences and memories through art. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
