Ali Hargreaves started her career as a primary school teacher, but due to hearing loss, gave this up in pursuit of her dream occupation as an Artist. She lives in Poynton, Cheshire, England with her husband and two boys.
Alisart started small with commissions from friends, which lead to others! Subsequently, she was asked to teach privately and this eventually lead to the thriving classes and video lessons she runs today.
Ali is a popular, experienced and qualified teacher, demonstrator and workshop tutor with innovative ideas to help you learn and take your work to another level. Her lessons are always fun and her paintings are full of colour and texture. Her work is diverse and this is illustrated in her regular and video based classes keeping her lessons fresh and exciting. She encourages her students to experiment with new ideas using observation, drawing and trying out painting techniques before embarking on a new painting.
Ali is also proud to be both a PA and a partner with the SAA (Supporting All Artists) writing regular articles for “Paint & Create“ magazine, running live workshops and filming videos at their head quarters in Newark.
Ali brightens every session with her sparkling personality and sense of fun. She is a great teacher, sensitive to everyone’s needs and ability in classes of mixed experience. She is very encouraging and I have learned so much from her.
Ali Hargreaves is a gifted artist and a talented teacher, who inspires confidence, giving individual encouragement to each student. Her ever-smiling, gentle manner makes her classes a warm and friendly environment in which to learn. Can’t wait for the next painting holiday!
Ali simplifies the most daunting landscape. She teaches us to pick a section and focus on that part only. Her colour palette is vivacious and you learn to see the most mundane scenery come to life.
Ali is an excellent teacher with a great love and enthusiasm for her subject. She teaches the importance of sketching, observation, practice and experimentation before starting a painting. For a painting holiday Ali comes with an initial plan taking into account topics students wish to pursue.
Ali teaches various techniques and skills in handling watercolour to achieve exciting lively results from this medium. She loves colour and brings an artist's eye to any scene.
A week away with Ali though is not all work, it is a fun holiday and at the same time one learns such a lot to move one along their painting journey. We have booked to go again which says it all!
