Fleur Woods is an internationally celebrated Contemporary Fibre Artist based in the South Island of Aotearoa, New Zealand. Fleur’s process and teaching focus on joyful mark making with fibre inspired by nature, textiles, colour and texture. Fleur currently teaches her sought after workshops in New Zealand and Australia, this will be her first visit to teach in France. Fleur is also the author of best seller, “The Untamed Thread” which captures her work, journey and philosophy beautifully. As a self taught artist practicing for over a decade, Fleur’s work and techniques are unique and born from a soul connection with stitch.
It’s so fabulous to find a teacher who is so open to engage every single person in her course and make sure they are included. Open to teach all aspects of stitching even if that wasn’t part of set course. When you find a teacher who is so kind, open, friendly, supportive, it is infectious to learn!! Fleur is so generous in all she does, I didn’t think I could create, but after her online, and in person classes I’m stitching, making marks, and loving every minute. First of all, Fleur is one of the nicest human beings on the Earth. The entire five days workshop was so delightful to be in her presence. She went around the table, multiple times, helping everyone and talking to everyone about their piece. She set the tone for the workshop and it truly was one of the best workshops I’ve ever attended. It was a new art form for me and I’m definitely hooked. I can’t wait to begin another Fleur Woods project. I had flown from the United States to Australia for this workshop. Fleur has such a gentle & encouraging manner and is so very generous in sharing her skills and materials.I went away from that first course so very inspired and have been on a stitch journey ever since.I have gone on and completed a few more courses with Fleur and have loved every single one.Each one I come away with a bit more knowledge and confidence in my ability as a stitcher.I have made some things that no longer get stuffed in the cupboard unfinished but are displayed proudly in my home.I now feel cheated if I have a day without stitching – it's a great calmer at the end of a busy day. — Michelle B
