Artist's Projects
Nick Morley of LINOCUTBOY is a linocut artist with more than twenty five years of printmaking experience. He lives and works in Margate, UK, and has been teaching linocut workshops for fifteen years. Nick’s prints explore the natural world and the way humans study and interact with it. He is inspired by many things, including medieval prints, children’s stories and Natural History books. Nick runs a printmaking studio in Margate, Hello Print Studio and has written two books: Linocut for Artists and Designers (Crowood, 2016) and Linocut: Learn in a Weekend (Skittledog/Hachette 2023).
Nick’s teaching approach is calm and methodical. Once you have learnt the basics of technique it is up to you to develop your linocuts however you wish. Nick will advise you on how to get optimal results and make suggestions along the way, but he believes that the best way to learn is by doing, and making mistakes along the way. Experimentation is encouraged and through trying a number of different approaches you will discover new and exciting ways of working.
