Immersed in an environment conducive to painting, the workshop with Robin Perko in South West France will be divided into a 5 day step-by-step process. Throughout the week we will build the foundations of portraiture, where focus will be on value, tone, colour and edge control.
About this course:
Robin Perko has travelled all over Europe, developing his art school training and honing his professional practice. He captures realist emotive portraits that resonate with life. Time spent in Florence brought knowledge accumulated from generations of great artists, refining his skills in classical realist painting.
Immersed in an environment conducive to painting, the workshop will be divided into a 5 day step-by-step process. Throughout the week we will build the foundations of portraiture, where focus will be on value, tone, colour and edge control. Practice how to choose and harmonise colours, simplify forms, find the value in light and dark shapes, construct your subject in tonal masses, push shape resolution and add those illusive accent descriptions. The pros and cons of the various painters’ methods will be explored, preparing the foundation for painting.
These tools will form the basis of an exciting portrait project from life, where you will have a chance to exercise your practiced skills in the greater context – and have some fun creating something beautiful!
The course encourages a ‘learn by example’ methodology where students of varying abilities train alongside one another and with Robin, in a friendly, productive and inspiring environment.
