This idyllic setting combined with heart-centered instruction is guaranteed to provide an unforgettable and rewarding experience you will cherish for a lifetime.

    About this course:

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of mixed media fiber art in this enriching and inspiring workshop, where we journey through nature’s wonders and human-made marvels to create unique motifs, shapes, and designs. As we delve into the significance of motifs in art and design, you’ll develop a keen understanding of principles such as value, scale, and, most importantly, colour.

Throughout this engaging course, we will embark on several insightful excursions, allowing you to capture photographs and sketches of the striking beauty that surrounds us. Be prepared to bring your camera, smartphone, sketchbook, or tablet as we explore inspiring landscapes and captivating landmarks, gathering creative inspiration for your fiber art masterpieces.

Under my guidance, you will learn how to transform your observations into captivating art pieces; simultaneously enriching your painting skills and expanding your artistic horizons. (And yes, you will be painting the fabric you use in your project!) These instructive and invigorating journeys will enhance not only your understanding of motifs but also your ability to integrate and juxtapose the elements of nature and human-made creations within your fiber art compositions.

One of the course’s key aspects is the development of your personalized idea book─a valuable resource for organizing and archiving your artistic vision. We will discuss its creation and utility, ensuring that your book successfully captures your observations and serves as a vital tool for future artistic endeavors.

Over the course of this unique workshop, you will have the opportunity to choose an array of quilting techniques, such as:

    1. Traditional Piecing: Uncover the nuanced art of assembling patchwork blocks, as you cut and sew fabric pieces you have painted to create dynamic and graphic designs.

    2. Fusing: Experiment with an innovative, quick, and straightforward approach to quilt composition. With no sewing involved, you can focus on the artistic aspects of merging fabric pieces and unleashing your creative potential.

    3. Appli-Piecing: Discover the beautiful amalgamation of piecing and appliqué, as you combine these two techniques to craft intricate and complex patterns.

    4. Hand Quilting: Immerse yourself in the meditative experience of stitching by hand. This truly personalized approach lends a unique and irreplaceable touch to your creations, making each piece priceless in its own way. I am not a hand quilter, but if you are, I encourage you to consider this approach.

Sewing machines will be available for those who prefer the efficiency of machine stitching. However, I strongly encourage fusing, hand quilting and appliqué – this will give you more freedom in regards to the shapes you can use.

The workshop will also include demonstrations, guided exercises, and personal consultations to ensure your overall learning experience is enriching and enjoyable. And there will be ample time for sightseeing and indulging in the laid-back French lifestyle!
